WHY FEAR DEATH WHEN WE ALL GROW OLDER

My oldest son 24 and my parents 81 & 77
When I got my divorced I had a very hard time adjusting with my three children. I worked three jobs just to make ends meet. I was getting two hours of sleep and not knowing what day it was- if it was early morning or early evening. I just knew that one day the kids would get older and things would get better. As my kids got older so did I, as well as my parents and the people around us. I lost one of my kidney's back when I was young, this was back in the early 60's I saw other kids that didn't make the operation like I did- I asked myself why me? why did I make it and they didn't- why do people die? My ex-girlfriends mother died of cancer and for as long as I can remember she did everything right so she wouldn't get cancer- eating right , exercising, no smoking or drinking and got her yearly check ups. One day she came to me and asked me to feel a small lump in her breast- we thought nothing of it, but still went to the doctor just to get it checked out and get a few test done. When we went back for the follow-up the doctor asked her if she wanted a full or partial masectomy to our surprise this was the beginning of a long journey- cancer has no friends, knows no color, religion, gender, race- it doesn't care if you're rich or poor, but one thing is for sure it will change your life forever- looking back 9 plus years later and knowing that she's ok today I don't fear much as I believe that we all have a destiny and all we can do is live life to its fullest for today not making the mistakes of yesterday and looking into tomorrow to better ourselves. Life is guaranted to no one so live today like it is your last. People live today caring about things they cannot help- help yourself first then you can help others. You're only as old as you feel- so take care of your body better than you take care of your car. Things just don't matter because without you- you're not going to enjoy the material things that we so much love more than ourselves. My journey end with not having my girlfriend, but she has her health and today we're great friends- things happen for a reason it's our choice how to except it and what to do with adversity. Today I'm happily married and moving forward with my wife to bigger and better things. If we all had a crystal ball we could make decisions based on what the ball told us, but that's not the case. Make the best of today-try making it full circle one day at the time you'll look back one day and see that we all just get older- just like anything else we do the best we can but it just happens to be that we just get older.

MAKING IT FULL CIRCLE

We tend to forget that one day we will be senior citizens and how would you like to be treated. Our parents, friends and ourselves will get old. It's making it full circle that we don't prepare for as we live for today and today only. We have a responsibility to stay healthy, balanced, and happy if we depend in others to do that for us we will never make the full circle. As we grow older we lose love ones, friends and others that have influence the way we do things. So why do we forget our senior citizens when one day we will all be one. We look into tomorrow wishing we can enjoy our senior years, but what do we do to prepare for does days if we drowned ourselves in peaty and sorrow. Live today like is your last day, but make a plan for tomorrow in case you wake up to live another day. Tomorrow is guarantied to no one so today live it up and celebrate to hopefully make tomorrow a better day than yesterday.

Paying it Forward

As I see my children growing into responsible young adults I try to teach them that the world is not just about them. As much as we need to take care of ourselves we need to understand that if we don't take the time to take care of our community we really don't have balance. Health is not just measured by going to a gym or just working out. Health and wellness is physical, social, Intellectual, environmental, spiritual, emotional health so when you only have one or two of items from the wellness wheel you're not balance and healthy. When looking for health you have to think balance so stay withing the parameters of the wellness wheel is a great thing. The last few days I have been very busy with my clients, students, and seniors classes and duties. I am getting other seniors for my exercise classes from other senior centers in the area- E.H.T senior center is the largest in the area. Starting August we are moving my class to a bigger room in the center, do to the increase of seniors in the class. I am glad that they see the benefits of exercising and all the benefits they will get if they fallow the principles of the wellness wheel. We only have one body so we should do everything we can to keep it working to its best. I see how the economy is stressing allot of Americans including our seniors and the younger generation getting ready to face the world. The middle class has always paid for does how can't and that's never going to change unless we all speak out together and make the change. We need to focus on our tomorrow not the once of the carrier politicians inWashington that are just looking out for their own interest and not of the voters that put them in office. We can vote them in but we can also vote them out if they are not doing the job for the people that they promise to do.

Another Day

I finally got together with my corparate client we missed last week- in his line for work sometime duties come first before workouts. My senior exercise class was great this week- they are very happy that I come in and volunteer my time and get them going with exercises. Some of the bingo and card playing seniors don't care for me to much they dislike the music, but what are you going to do you can't make everybody happy.  I took my dogs out like always in the back of my house and saw 6 male hawks flying around a female- had to get the camera and take pictures. They where so close you could almost touch them- the same day I saw a wood pecker just doing his thing out in the middle of the woods. This is the trail that takes my home or just out the wild- it's very peaceful here; the pecock was in my yard.

Once a dad always a dad

Sunday the 11th my My day is starting like every other day, coffee and a walk with the dogs in my back yard. People take things for granted thinking that today is promised to us, but it's promised to no one- so make the best of each day-help those how can't help themselves- make a difference it starts with just one person why not you. The best gift you can give your child is your time- it's the best gift and it cost you nothing. Our children are great investments that we make- so protect them with all you have- like anything else they take time to masseur- take the time to teach them and nurture them- in the long run it will payoff for the best of them. My parents are over my mother is 77 years old and still works as a nurse doing private cases through the are of Camden, New Jersey one of the worst cities in America. She tells me that she's helping her people- what she means is the Latins in the area that have a hard time communicating or getting services throw the county. My step-father is retiered at 81 years old and helps my mother get around to her cases. They are both great insperations to me and my children- my wife loves my mother, she lost both of her parents about 6 years ago. I think that's why I spend so much time helping others- I teach a senior exercise class here at the community center. I remember the first day I walked in, they all looked at me like here comes something new. It's sad to see how we as Americans forget our elderly- they are the once that have given us our freedoms that we so much enjoy today. My one senior Joe was in WW l l in one of the battleships- I always ask him to tell me something about his experiences. My one son is in the military ans at 22 years old he has done more and seen more than allot of kids his age.

The Life of a Karate Dad

My journey started back in 1998 when I became a single father of three. At the time they were 12 years old and twins 10 years old. Today they are young adults- my oldest graduated with his degree in criminal justice. My boy/girl twins- the boy is in the military and did a tour in Iraq-still is in training for other missions- my daughter just got her associates degree and is looking in continuing her education. Four years ago I met my wife of two years now- with the marriage I was blessed with a 14 year old boy that just made the honor roll and will be starting high school. I find myself in a great place today, but that did not come without lots of adversity. By believing in myself I have found happiest, balance, stability, direction, focus, stress free life, and health. I also give credit to my wife she is that inner voice that make it all happen. When I first met her she gave me this quote to read:
"IF YOU ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS DONE, YOU'LL ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS GOTTEN"
If you add this quote to your life you will see how much better you will be. We only have one life as we know it so make the best of it. Life is guarantied to no one, so don't take it for granitic, because you may not have it tomorrow so live today like it's you last day.
